This week we’re joined by our homie Sideshow Trice to talk about one of the most consistent and personally influential rappers to come out of Canada and someone who definitely deserves all the flowers that we give them all throughout this episode… Nova Scotian rapper and producer “Classified”! If you’re not from Canada, you may not have heard of him but he’s been putting out music since 1995, consistently delivering good rhymes and insane production, and has been putting on for Canada in a huge way. A respected but somewhat slept-on rapper’s rapper who loves the craft and cares about artistry? Sounds like another episode of BP, right? But this one means a little more to all of us as we unpack the history, influence, and impact “Classified” made on all of us. It’s actually kind of touching… and a lot of fun.

We break down his career share some of our favourite songs and albums, discuss why we drifted away from his music, and share how amazing it has been to reconnect with his discography and explore his legacy as a Canadian hip-hop icon. We marvel at his crazy list of features which includes pretty much every dope rapper from Canada and some heavy hitters from across North America including Raekwon, Snoop, DJ Premier, Royce Da 5’9, and more. We also gush and reminisce on our younger years when his albums like “Boy-Cost-In The Industry”, “Hitch Hiking’ Music”, and “Self Explanatory” meant so much to us and were played on repeat. We also praise his consistently dope production, break down his fresh and interesting songwriting, share our thoughts on his recent releases, and appreciate his style, voice, and realness. This dude has been putting in that work and deserves some respect on his name, so if you haven’t given him a listen... you really ought to.

We end the episode with a nice conversation about Sideshow’s new EP “be. a. trice.”, share some stories from the production and making of the project, discuss Trice’s growth as an artist, and bask in the fact that so many of our homies are making dope stuff right now.
