"Special" is, well, a special show--a surprisingly honest and nuanced story about disability, sex, dating, and most importantly, the relationship between a gay man and his mother. While Ryan O'Connell is the mastermind of the show, Jessica Hecht's brilliant performance as his mother Karen is at the heart of it. This week we dive into the fourth episode of the second season to discuss one of our favorite topics, navigating grief, plus our own feelings as 30-something creatives who don't have Netflix shows, some love for Lauren Weedman both as Tanya and as Doris in "Looking," and a call for more single take shots of women looking at themselves in a mirror on the day of a funeral, preferably while eating candy or doing their makeup.
