Becca Slack settled on chatting with me about the 'burbs after she realized the nexus of a lot of her interests (going to the mall, chain restaurants, etc) was living most of her life in towns just outside NYC and Denver. She loves the big city life of Chicago, but she also fondly and nostalgically looks back on simpler, suburb living. We chat about trying to fit in and be cool, sincerely vs. ironically enjoying seemingly crappy suburb perks, the cyclical nature of parents and their kids, the Grateful Dead, and quoting Austin Powers. It was a joy.
