Discussions on the future Australian cricket captaincy have already begun. There is a point in the not too distant future where the captaincy of all three Australian teams will come up for re-negotiation. Tim Paine looks set to take the Test team through the Australian summer, while Aaron Finch has secured the reigns to the T20 World Cup team and looks to be in the box seat to be in charge of the ODI team all the way through to the 2023 ODI World Cup. But what happens beyond that? Today I will take a look back on the captaincy and vice captaincy of all three Australian teams since the sandpaper debacle at Newlands in 2018, and then plot a path forward with what will no doubt be a controversial look at the future prospects for the second highest job in the country.
