What’s good, homies?! It’s 2023! Happy New Year! We are back and ready to rock! We’re starting this year off with part one of our 2022 Bird Report. That’s our yearly round-up of all our favourite movies, music, games, and television from the past year. We kick things off with some thoughts on 2022 in general and the slow crawl back to normalcy (or at least to the “new normal”), then we look back at some of the high points of 2022 and recap our creative endeavours. We also take some time to thank our listeners, marvel at our growth this past year, and muse about our little podcast going international. Then, it’s time to list our picks. This week’s episode covers only the movies and television portion of our lists because 2022 had a lot of good stuff. Like… A LOT.
We spend most of this episode chatting about some of our favourites including “X”, “Pearl”, “Prey”, “The Whale”, “Avatar: The Way Of Water”, “Tar”, “Mad God”, “Everything Everywhere All At Once”, “The Batman”, “Triangle Of Sadness”, “NOPE”, “Bullet Train”, and a whole lot more. Plus, we talk about some of the great TV shows from this year including “Andor”, “We Own This City”, “The Bear”, “House Of The Dragon”, “The Boys”, “The Sandman”, “Moon Knight”, “The Rehearsal”, “How To With John Wilson”, “Peacemaker”, “Peaky Blinders”, and more.
We also look back on some of the disappointments this year, share some of our honourable mentions that are good but not necessarily the top, discuss Marvel’s shortcomings and people being irrationally mad about stuff that is clearly not made for them, Otis announces that he has finally finished “Deadwood” and he has some issues with “Glass Onion”, and more random ramblings. We cut this week’s episode short but we’re coming back for round two in a week to talk music, video games, and to sit down with our homie Whensday to chat about his new album “Vices” which is dropping Jan. 11th.
See you then!
