At the center of the story are the “Handymen,” Nicolas Brown and Worick Arcangelo, two mercenaries-for-hire who take on jobs too dangerous or dirty for anyone else. Worick is a charming former gigolo with connections throughout the city’s underworld, while Nicolas is a deaf, katana-wielding fighter whose superhuman combat abilities make him one of the most feared men in Ergastulum.

As they navigate a fragile balance between rival mafia families, police, and powerful criminal organizations, they become entangled in a growing conflict surrounding the “Twilights”—genetically altered individuals granted extraordinary physical abilities through a drug called Celebrer. Feared and discriminated against by ordinary humans, the Twilights live under constant oppression despite being indispensable as soldiers and enforcers.
