Derek Hanel is a former U.S. Navy Seal and former police officer with the Norfolk Police Department.  His father was a U.S. Air Force PJ during Vietnam and was impactful in Derek choosing to become a US Navy Seal.  

Derek graduated from Gardner-Webb University with a B.A. in Religion and Religious Studies in 2003.  His knowledge of the Word and his obedience in living it out is truly inspiring.
