In this episode, we are joined by Sam Ridgway who graduated from King’s in 2018 with a BA in Geography. Following graduation, Sam returned to his home city of Oxford to study an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Oxford. On beginning his studies at Oxford, Sam also re-joined his previous employer White & Black, a corporate, commercial and IP specialist law firm, working part-time in a paralegal role alongside his University course. Completing his Masters in summer 2020, Sam joined the firm full-time as a Trainee Data Privacy Consultant, completing his CIPP/E exams in summer 2021 to become a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
We discuss identifying transferable skills from your university studies and student experience, the benefits of working outside London, using your professional network effectively, finding out what you're good at, and becoming an expert in Data Privacy.
