In this week's episode, Jen shares her experiences with depression--and those of some of her friends--in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month.
This week, I'm talking about some of the causes of depression and, most importantly, some tangible tips to help protect yourself from the risk of developing depression or how to move through it if that's where you find yourself right now.
Some of my favorite parts of this podcast are focusing on relationships and things that bring us joy. I love creating a community around growth, even and especially when it feels difficult.
To be a highly sensitive person, a person who has dealt with depression or anxiety or both, or someone who wants to grow but isn't sure how to make it happen -- these are all really emotional experiences.
That's why I love sharing the hearts & stories of other people who get it, who have been there and can offer tangible advice for leaning into your authenticity, trusting what you want, and taking care of yourself.
Even though today's episode is formally about depression, we could also say that it's about taking care of yourself & loving yourself. Every wise piece of advice that Melissa, Kelly, Tori, and Madalyn shared remind us to love ourselves, take care of ourselves, and do whatever it takes to find that peace & joy again.
That could look like more time outside, making the bed, calling a friend to hang out, going to a fun class, reading a book instead of scrolling on Instagram, or calling a therapist if you need extra support.
I hope you feel loved. I, for one, am so glad you're here. You may have a tremendous capacity for sorrow and probably sometimes feel some incredible pain. But you also have the same capacity for joy and love -- and the world needs more of those things.
I hope you'll reach out to me and share if any tips helped you in this episode--or if there is any way I can support you. My e-mail address is
