Love will cause you to do sacrificial things.  Scripture says that no one could take Jesus' life, but He laid it down (John 10:18).  It was the joy that was set before Him that caused Jesus to endure the cross.  There was delight in the fellowship that would result from the cross.  As a response, the Lord calls us to take up our crosses, denying ourselves, and following Him as true disciples and lovers of God.
