Sara flies solo this week and talks with the founder of JUICE Orange Mound, Britney Thornton. After finishing grad school, Britney returned to Memphis as a Teach For Memphis corp member and discovered that the neighborhood she grew up in wasn’t booming with development and economic opportunity like other parts of Memphis. Determined to change the narrative and give back to the community, Britney launched JUICE to unite, empower, and support each resident in the neighborhood. Four times a year, JUICE organizes a JUICE DAY going door-to-door collecting spare change from residents. With the money collected, JUICE funds innovative project ideas created by members of the community, promoting innovation within and the self-sufficiency of the neighborhood.
