Deneen argues that our current political turmoil are not rooted in this or that problem of our political parties, but rather in liberalism as such. Liberalism has failed, not because of accidents of history, or the particular development of liberal political institutions, but precisely because liberalism has stayed true to itself. Coyle and Ed discuss Deneen's argument and the extent to which the political philosophy of liberalism is inevitably in decline.
