We were glad to welcome Dave Hauser into the studio with us! Dave and his wife Cheryl began attending Desert Springs in 2022 after moving to Arizona from Oregon. Dave grew up in a big family as a pastor's kid in the Pacific Northwest. Both Dave and Cheryl had long careers as teachers in Oregon and as they reached retirement eligibility, they wanted to seek the Lord about what was next. What is really cool is that Dave and Cheryl actually had these conversations in the 15-20 years leading up to their retirement. Assuming they were healthy and in a good place, they didn't want to just end their time serving and working for the Lord. The idea of spending the rest of his life on a golf course brought no meaning for Dave. He did not want to the waste the years God was continuing to give him. All of this discussion and prayer led to Dave and Cheryl moving to Arizona to work with a program called FORGE Youth Mentoring. FORGE Youth Mentoring strives to connect generations to restore hope in our communities and to help young people discover and pursue their full potential. This conversation will challenge and inspire you as you hear about how the Lord led Dave to work with FORGE, to move to Arizona and how he lives out his conviction that aging and getting older does not mean your time serving the Lord and others is over. Desert Springs is happy to be a part of supporting FORGE Youth Mentoring and we look forward to hearing about how their ministry affects our local communities for the Gospel.
