Way back in the day when I still wandered, admittedly somewhat aimlessly, through the world of architecture, there were certain things I ‘officially’ liked and disliked. Using the twin advantages of time and hindsight, I discovered the primary reason for my likes and dislikes was groupthink. In order to get along, I downsized the brain unit responsible for critical thinking, and let others tell me what to do. The big surprise for me, who tries so hard to remain on the open-minded side of the fence, was how gently and easily I had slipped into that mode of thinking.
