Episode 93: Hope through miscarriage and loss with Meagan Ellis

Listen Later

We have a wonderful, hope-filled story to share with you today. This is our last interview of 2023 but don't worry, we have some fun and light content for Christmas (with some special guests) coming to the podcast over the next few weeks. Then we'll be back right at the top of 2024 with more amazing stories of God's faithfulness! But today, our host Sarah Schalow is talking with our friend Meagan Ellis.

⚠️ Before you listen, we do want to give you a trigger warning for this episode. Pregnancy loss is discussed throughout this conversation. ⚠️

Meagan met her husband Adam while working at the Flagstaff airport. She and her husband married in 2015 and Meagan already had a timeline of when she wanted to become a mom though they didn't want to have children immediately. When she was in her mid-20s she felt that with everything else that had fallen to place in life she felt like it was the time to start a family. This was the late spring of 2016 and Meagan describes that pregnancy and becoming a mom became an obsession. She planned to become a mom right away and when she became pregnant for the first time within two months, she was buying items for a nursery when she was barely 6 weeks pregnant. Not long after this, Meagan went to a doctor's appointment where she learned that she had lost the baby. This was a shock and something she hadn't been prepared for as she didn't have any knowledge of anyone around her who had experienced a miscarriage. Unfortunately, this would not be the only miscarriage Meagan would experience. We are thankful for Meagan's willingness to bring us into this journey as she shares the depths of an over two journey suffering through multiple miscarriages. The amazing part of the story is when she learned to let go and truly placed her faith and trust in Jesus after a tearful phone call with her mom. Things changed in so many ways when God became the center of these wants and desires. There is hope in this story as Meagan leaned into God and eventually received the blessing of carrying two healthy pregnancies to full term. She loves her life with her husband and two precious children and gives all the glory to God for His blessings. We are again so thankful for Meagan's willingness to bring us into her story in such a vulnerable way!
