At 19 years young Kati Wolfgangs Aunt passed away at the age of 40 from breast cancer. It was also at this time that Kati found out that she has the same BRCA1 genetic mutation that her aunt had putting Kati at an 80% or greater chance of developing breast cancer too. After 10 years of cancer screenings every 6 months Kati made the decision to have a double mastectomy to eliminate her risk of breast cancer and should have been just one surgery.
