Kathleen from Plenty of Sunshine Travel met with Hilary from Avalon Waterways for this week's cruise chat.

I found it interesting that Avalon does not refurbish their ships. They do not rebuild their ships. They buy new ships. So, you know you will stay on the best of the best!   

Avalon's staterooms are set up so the moment you awake, you are immersed in the area you visit. The bed is angled, so you wake up to the most beautiful views.

Avalon Waterways is a part of the Globus family of brands. Globus is a land tour specialist, making their shared app fantastic! You don't need to be connected to a cell tower or wifi. Everything is pre-loaded and available offline. The app also can direct you back to the ship, so if you are lost, you can find your way back ~ stress free!  

. 

Some of the itineraries we talked about are The Blue Danube.  Starting in Deggendorf, you visit Linz, Mauthausen, Grein, Krems, Spitz, and Visegrad ending in Budapest.   

You can also visit Lyon, Tain L'Hermitage, Tournon, Viviers, Avignon, Arles and ending in Port Saint- Louis. You can also add Paris before your cruise.   

A brand new itinerary for 2023 is one called "Lower Danube" This itinerary starts in Zebrab and visits Osijek, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Golbac, Lepenski Vir, Donji Milanovac, Vidin, Belogradchik, Nikopol, Arbanassi, Veliko Tarnovo, Oltenita and ending in Bucharest. You can add Transylvania if you choose.   

We also discussed an itinerary that goes from Croatia to the Black Sea. New in 2023.  Also new in 2023 is "The Best of the Rhine."
