If you have all of the knowledge in the world—the top of your class, having countless awards, and having memorized every medication’s mechanism of action down to minute details—it won’t matter to patient care if that’s all you have to offer.
While the knowledge you gain is essential to the backbone of your degree, it will be useless unless you know how to communicate what you know to those you care for in your practice.
The fact in pharmacy is this: patients don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
Don’t hear what I’m not saying: making our pharmacology knowledge a priority is our main role as pharmacists, but the details I’ll share in this podcast series called Unscripted are what will separate you from being viewed by your patients as “just another pharmacist” to “MY pharmacist”, which will only happen once you’ve implemented the 5 Key Facets of Pharmacy. Each episode will be dedicated to one of those keys, so let’s get started with the first one!
