Is it art, or just a pile of bricks? This week, we dive into the creative process of Carl Andre's "Equivalent VIII," a work more commonly known as "The Pile of Bricks." Displayed at the prestigious Tate Modern in London this pile started an uproar of debate, dividing the museum board, art critics, and the public alike. We will explore Andre's artistic influences and the Minimalist movement that shaped his work. From the specific type of brick chosen to the  arrangement on the floor, we analyze the choices Andre made and the potential symbolism within them. We will also dive into the public reaction (both good and bad) in comparison to other artworks that had the same reaction.
