About Michael

As founder of Tachyon Insights, Michael is an age-tech healthcare influencer who is passionate about empowering the lives of older adults and family caregivers. An industry influencer, he has 30,000+ LinkedIn followers and is a regular speaker at senior living and healthcare conferences. He is a mentor at 757 Accelerate and MedStartr Ventures. Michael credits his insight into caregivers and older adults to working as a social worker in skilled nursing facilities as a care manager and licensed assisted administrator, being a family caregiver and developing 1,000 + care plans.

Michael owned a care management company which supported Medicare/Medicaid dual eligible, and Humana members, where he oversaw initiatives that reduced hospital readmission by 32% over a 6 month period and 44% for chronic care members. The program dramatically improved member satisfaction, HEDIS measures, and quality metrics driven by risk individualized risk assessments. He also served as Chief Commercial Officer at Sagely, a wellness platform that empowers older adults and connects their families.

Michael holds a Masters in Healthcare Administration from George Washington University Milken Institute of Public Health. He has a wife, daughter and 2 dogs, loves to surf, hike, and work out, and is a caregiver to his 89-year-old dad.

Key Takeaways

  • Voice technologies are huge because that is the natural way humans interact.
  • Home diagnostics are in the early stages of development. Processes such as drawing blood and eye tests will improve.
  • Consumer-driven technologies will help older adults stay in their homes. Ninety percent of homes are not modified for later life.
  • Senior living needs to be reimagined beyond the walls and have greater collaboration with homecare companies and hospitals. Senior living can deliver a platform of wellness and social services, but the real estate revenue model is not structured for the pivot.
