We're finishing off Action Movie August with a ROARING classic called Jurassic Park (1993). When a bunch of ancient dinosaur DNA is discovered by scientists, billionaire John Hammond makes the bold (or arrogant?) decision to clone these animals for an interactive island theme park. He invites paleontologists, mathematicians, and even his own grandkids to explore the miraculous, and then suddenly dangerous, dinosaur extravaganza. The film explores themes of human greed over personal safety and just how wrong humans are about their importance in the food chain. Despite its position as a beloved staple of modern cinema, we still have to ask: does the iconic imagery and storyline still hold up to today's standards? Or do we prefer the modern remakes?
