Episode 99 "SPECIAL GUEST PETER RORK (DOG IS MY COPILOT)"

Listen Later

Hello Pups and Kittens, welcome back for the 99th time to The Groomer Next Door. This week we are gearing up for "HOWL-O-WEEN". So we will discuss some Do'd and Don'ts. But we are more excited about our very special guest flying into The Groomer Next Door airport (recently constructed just for this occasion). Peter E. Rork, M.D., PresidentPeter is an orthopedic surgeon and pilot who has practiced medicine for 33 years and flown airplanes for 43 years. He holds an Airline Transport Pilot rating and is trained to fly single and multiengine aircraft as well as seaplanes. He is also a certified flight instructor. Peter is DIMC's chief pilot, transporting animals to furever homes in his Turbo Cessna 206 Stationair. Doyle, his black lab and constant companion, is a former abandoned dog and his current copilot. DIMC is a 501(c) 3 approved nonprofit organization that is dedicated to saving animals' lives. The organization was created in 2012 by a doctor in Wyoming and a lawyer in Arizona. Peter Rork, MD and Judy Zimet, Esq. work with a supportive Board and dedicated Volunteers to fly animals from areas of the country where they are not wanted, to areas of the country where they are in demand. There is no charge to the animal welfare organizations for whom DIMC flies...the plane flies on public donations alone. The organization is incorporated as a Wyoming public benefit corporation and is based in Jackson Hole. Dog Is My CoPilot (DIMC) decreases the number of animals killed in shelters and increases shelter adoption by flying groups of animals to areas where they are more adoptable. DIMC works with established nonprofit animal rescue organizations to coordinate flights. There is never a fee to the sending or receiving organization. http://www.dogcopilot.orgDIMC flies many animals on one flight. This keeps costs down and saves more animals. DIMC coordinates with organizations with too many small dogs and too few large dogs, and organizations with too few small dogs and too many large dogs. By transporting large dogs to one area where they are quickly adopted, and small dogs to another area where they are quickly adopted, more animals reach furever homes. DIMC flies many regular routes in the Rocky Mountain and Pacific regions.DIMC facilitates transport from an airport closest to the point of origination to an airport closest to the destination through the use of general aircraft. These planes have the ability to fly into not only commercial airports, but also small local airstrips. Animals coming from or going to rural areas have a greater opportunity to reach a furever home because transport is made more convenient by the accessibility to local airstrips.Join the DIMC SQUADRON, our convenient monthly giving program that provides reliable support for our mission to save animals through flight. Your monthly donation can be safely and automatically made by credit card. Donations will be automatically deducted and you can cancel at any time.
