Professor Dave returns for continued discussions on a myriad of topics. The professor shared with the group the historical significance of the white stripe on the back of American army officers' helmets, which aided in their identification during the invasion of Trenton. He also discussed the contribution of Baron Friedrich Wilhelm Augustus von Steuben, a Prussian army veteran, who was invited to join the Continental army at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War. Von Steuben, who didn't speak English, spent two months training the American soldiers and transformed them into a disciplined army capable of facing the British. David further explained the history of the "Blue Book," a regulation manual for the US Army written by von Steuben during the Revolutionary War.
