Episode Eight - The Otterbury Incident

Do your children have problems falling into a deep sleep ? Do you have issues getting them to switch off ? Then this free series of podcast episodes is especially for you Meditation and mindfulness are two words that get sprinkled into conversation by well meaning but often hapless child practitioners, teachers and social workers who don't understand or have the time to work with and assess children. Adverse childhood experiences, bereavement, moving house, divorce and family separation are often triggers and root causes of children being unable to achieve meaningful sleep. And sleep is essential. The Magic Castle Stories Podcast is actually a toolkit for parents or care givers to train their children into being able to get to a restful state at speed and to achieve a good nights sleep. Each show is built out to allow the child to adopt an easy listening stance and to taper out (if they are not asleep by the end of the episode) to a set of breathing and relaxation techniques which are proven to work. These shows have been road tested with my youngest son since 2022 and other children here in Wiltshire in the UK. It's given many parents their lives back, and made for happy productive kids. What actually works is building a level of sleep training, and to do so using a combination of repeat pattern exercises and familial sounds and triggers. Understanding how a child listens, understands and processes. Especially when tired. Who am I ? Dick Morrell is a UK based mental health practitioner, who has certified in his study of child care and helping children in all walks of lives to recover control, gain trust and to become able to manage their emotions.
