In today's episode Linda and Rachel have a conversation about being mindful of our numbing behaviors. Do you numb out?  Most people have a natural inclination to numb out to avoid stressful and perhaps painful thoughts and emotions that affect our lives especially as we become Single Again!!  Numbing behaviors in dealing with our new life can sometimes be overt and obvious and other times are covert that we don’t even realize what we are doing.  We may indulge ourselves in behaviors that self medicate to help manage stress or reduce pain. But It is important to note, not all of these behaviors are self harming, they may even be socially acceptable and encouraged.

What are your favorite numbing habits?  As you enter into this new season of becoming Single Again, being  aware of these patterns as a symptom to help us identify the root cause of our stress or pain.  Identifying and understanding of your habits, patterns and behaviors can lead to whole healing to live an empowered and authentic life.

Journaling prompts:

  1. What are your favorite numbing patterns?  What is the payoff?  What is the cost?
  2. How are you showing up?  How are you not showing up for yourself?  Is this in alignment with the life you want to live?
  3. The next time you want to use your numbing pattern - stop and ask yourself - what am I avoiding? What is going on under the surface? Am I living in integrity?
