Your Hosts Josh and David take a step away from demoralizing each other in the Banter Bowl and focus on the good in the world. James Campbell, a fellow Scottish man and Scottish record holder (in the Javelin) ran an entire marathon in his back garden while raising 29,000pounds in the process. it all started with a single tweet and ended with a trend on twitter, professional athlete support and professional sports commentators backing the live event.
James donated all the money raised to the NHS (National Health Service). You can still donate on the JustGiving page by searching "James Campbell". This was a spontaneous decision at 4.45pm on march 30th and on April 1st it became an internet sensation.
Sit & Kick has the exclusive look at how it all transpired to bring millions of people behind one man in his garden. Listen to hear why he did it. How he did it and what he will do next.
Lets look at some numbers:
His back garden marathon was on his 32nd birthday
6,593 (roughly) circuits of his back garden
6.4metre garden course. (pretty easy course map to memorize)
29,000 pounds donated in his efforts. Many more Backyard Marathoners have emerged and added their own donation links.
This is James Campbells first running podcast. Enjoy!
