On the first episode of The Devil in the Details, we're going to examine the Satanic Panic- a case of mass hysteria that swept across North America during the 1980's and early 90's and involved claims of organized cults of Satanists ritualistically abusing and sacrificing children. We'll look at an overview of what the Satanic Panic was, then go deeper into who was involved and investigate the specific claims made by those who believed in the dangers of organized Satanic cults, ritual abuse, and cult crime. We'll examine the evidence (or lack thereof) to support claims of Satanic cults and ritual abuse, offer alternative explanations, and finally arrive at the current scientific consensus on the subject.

It is my intention to provide information that is both factual and educational. I conduct my research drawing on what I judge to be the most trustworthy, authoritative source material available, and will readily cite my sources. That being said, I recognize that it is entirely possible I will make mistakes from time to time.
