Author and historian Janice P. Nimura launches her new book, The Doctors Blackwell: How Two Pioneering Sisters Brought Medicine to Women—and Women to Medicine, in conversation with Emily Silverman of The Nocturnists.  Nimura contextualizes the often simplified story of Elizabeth and Emily Blackwell (among the first women in the U.S. to earn medical degrees and the founders of the first hospital staffed by women), and discusses the sisters' astonishing trailblazing, their complicated relationship with feminism, and their differences from one another.
