Welcome to Sherbrooke is a podcast that takes you inside Sherbrooke Community Centre; a long-term care home in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where 263 residents live and which follows the Eden Alternative Philosophy of Care.
In this episode, we are taking you to Second Neighbourhoods to learn about Sherbrooke’s Neighbourhood Developers and Friends program. This program sees Sherbrooke managers and staff who are not involved in the daily care of Elders spend time in a specific neighbourhood or house at Sherbrooke to help staff create opportunities for Elders, families and staff to come together and create community.
Hopefully by the end of this episode, you will learn why creating opportunities for Elders to get to know each-other is so important for us at Sherbrooke, and how Neighbourhood Developers and Friends help to make these opportunities happen.
