The Damn Dirty Drive-In

Episode Ten - Rick Sloane

Listen Later

Hosts Ryan and Blake sit down with guerilla director and master of the Hollywood low-budget movie, Rick Sloane, best known in “Mystery Science Theater 3000” circles for his 1988 horror flick, “Hobgoblins.” The Podcast Gang reads viewer mail in “The Feedback Loop,” and tries to decide how to best rank the strange and wonderful (and occasionally terrible) sodas they taste each week. The Gang debuts a new segment, “Cheesy Movies We’d Like to See Riffed.” This episode’s discussion – “Turkish Star Wars,” or “Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam (The Man Who Saved the World).” In the “Mini Soda Review,” Host Greg introduces the others to a staple of Japanese summer, Ramune Lychee Soda, as well as the eccentricities of the drink’s Codd-neck bottle. Mostly, Ryan wants to smash the bottle for the glass marble. In “Reviewers in the MSTie,” James braves, “Fire Maidens of Outer Space.” A movie so bad, James shoots his Old Timey Pianer Player Rummy – who plays in the background music – to spare Rummy the misery.
