The phrase Black Lives Matter is about humanity. George Floyd’s murder by police underscored the lack of humanity that Black Americans and people of color experience in their communities on a daily basis.

A guilty verdict in the Chauvin trial was a good first step toward justice, but in terms of comprehensive police reform, America’s got a heavy lift.
