The American Spirit

Episode Three: Simon Rich’s, “Selling Out”

Listen Later

In this episode I read Simon Rich's, "Selling Out". This short story was the inspiration for the new HBO original, "An American Pickle", staring Seth Rogan. Written in 2013 and first published by the New Yorker, Rich humorously captures the story of an early 20th century American immigrant who gets the opportunity to live in the present day, alongside his only living relative. Enjoy and if you would like to read along you can find the story here, https://www.newyorker.com/humor/daily-shouts/sell-out-part-one
