On today's episode we talk college recruiting with NCAA Division I Associate Head Coach, Hugh MacDonald. Hugh played professionally for the New York Red Bulls before heading into the coaching ranks at Monmouth University. Early in the episode we talk about who Coach MacDonald is, who has influenced him the most as a coach and some of the non-negotiable qualities recruits must have to be pursued by the Monmouth University Men's Soccer program. Hugh discusses some of the indicators that give him an idea as to whether a recruit will be successful in a college environment or not. He talks about the importance of a player's psychological profile, their habits off the field and the number one non-soccer reason for crossing a recruit off his list. Coach MacDonald goes on to de-bunk the myth of a "Full Scholarship" along with his thoughts on making the decision between going the college or professional route for those 17-18 year olds who could go either way. We conclude the episode as always with three pieces of advice from Coach MacDonald!
