This week on the Built 2 Win Podcast, Darryl S. Brister talks about, being Anchored By Anger!!
Ephesians 4:31
An inappropriate response to anger is expressing your thoughts and feelings in an abusive, insensitive or manipulative manner that produces dissension and strife.
Romans 2:8
3-alarm…4-alarm…5-alarm…the blazing inferno rages! What began as a little spark has quickly burst into flames. Though no one may have noticed the spark of your blistering look or searing words, the heat of anger has consumed your spirit. Have you forgotten the damage a fire can do in only minutes? What do you do when you’re inflamed with angry feelings? Firemen are trained to answer the call quickly. Don’t hesitate to control your anger now!!
Proverbs 29:11
Anger, like heat, has many degrees. It rages from mild, controlled irritation to hot, uncontrolled explosions. Consequently, anger is an umbrella word that covers many emotions.
Indignation is Simmering Anger provoked by something appearing unjust/unworthy and is often seen as justified.
In Luke 13:14, the ruler of the synagogue became indignant when Jesus appeared to break the Mosaic Law by healing on the Sabbath.
Wrath is Burning Anger with the desire to avenge. Wrath often moves from a feeling to the outward expression of anger. In Romans 1:18-20, God’s wrath is divine chastisement in response to willful sin.
Fury is Fiery Anger that becomes so fierce it destroys common sense. The word suggests a force that is compelled to harm/destroy. In Acts 5:33, some members of the Sanhedrin were so furious with Peter and other apostles (for proclaiming the deity of Christ) that they wanted to put them to death.
Rage is Blazing, Violent Fury, loss of self-control and temporary insanity. In Deut. 19:4-6, the O.T. Law provided protection for an innocent man from the rage of a uniformed avenger.
Psalm 4:4
_Everyone feels the heat of anger, but how you handle the heat determines if you are misusing it.
