Yesterday Facebook and Microsoft announced that they have reached gender pay parity, hoping, I imagine, to get ahead of today’s Equal Pay Day discussions. The gender pay gap in America is still significant, ranging from the average of 5.4% to as high as 28% in some occupations. Glassdoor pegs the adjusted pay gap among computer programmers at 28.3%. Equal Pay Day is the point at which the average woman has met the earnings of the average man from the previous year.
