Setting precedents and standing as a role model for others in the road to equality, is both a privileged and difficult journey. For special guest Gadano Yussuf, seeing women find spaces in parliament and many of them leading the discourse in countries including her own is a mark of progress. Yet, the struggle for justice continues when so many have their status and importance elevated due to their gender. Vivian Kagwaria hosts this episode of Equality Talks to explore and celebrate rising change.
Godano Yussuf is an award-winning youth advocate with over 7 years of experience in the advocacy space for adolescents, women, and girl's sexual reproductive rights. She has worked extensively in the areas of ending harmful practice e.g. FGM and early marriages, Adolescent and Youth Sexual Reproductive Health (AYSRH), human rights and child protection and education. She is currently the head of programs in a rising women’s initiative locally based in her community and also the Chair for the Youth Coalition on ICPD25. She has been at the forefront of women empowerment in her county (Isiolo) and neighboring counties of Wajir and Marsabit.
