About Ukraine 🇺🇦:

Ukraine is a large Eastern European state whose identity has been shaped by a long history of cultural crossroads, imperial rule, and a powerful modern drive for political independence and democratic self-determination. Its capital, Kyiv, is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe and remains the country’s political, cultural, and intellectual center.

Ukrainian national identity developed through centuries of domination by larger powers, including the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Russian Empire, and later the Soviet Union. Modern Ukraine became an independent state in 1991, following the collapse of the USSR. Since then, the country has pursued political and social transformation, seeking closer integration with European institutions and democratic norms.

Ukrainian culture is rooted in language, folklore, music, and literature, while contemporary cultural life increasingly reflects a confident, outward-looking society.

In recent years, Ukraine has become a focal point of European and global politics, as it defends its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Despite the severe human and economic costs of war, Ukrainian society has demonstrated strong civic mobilization, resilience, and a clear commitment to shaping its own future as a modern European nation.

Greco-Ukrainian relations 🇬🇷:

Relations between Greece and Ukraine combine modern diplomatic cooperation with long-standing historical links in the Black Sea region. Greece has consistently supported Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, aligning its policy with the positions of the European Union. Bilateral relations are also strengthened by the presence of historic Greek communities in southern Ukraine, particularly around Odesa, which has deep cultural ties to the Greek world. Today, cooperation focuses on diplomacy, humanitarian assistance, cultural exchange, and regional stability, especially in the context of the ongoing war and its broader European security implications.
