In the spur of the moment, a simple argument can go out of hand if we focus on proving that we are right rather than seeking to understand our partner's emotional needs. We basically just listen so we can rebut. Whilst it does seem to be clever, it is not the same as understanding. So, what can we do to change that? Shari Foos dives into what Relational Mindfulness is and how we can apply it to create meaningful connections in both romantic and non-romantic relationships. Shari Foos is a licensed marriage and family therapist and creator of The Narrative Method. She holds an MA in clinical psychology from Antioch University, Los Angeles, and a Master's in Science in Narrative Medicine from Columbia University. A sought-after expert on the subject of relationship and meaningful connection, Foos’ writing and commentary have appeared in a range of online and print publications including Real Simple, Huffington Post, Women’s Health, KBLA, Fatherly, LA Weekly, and Bustle.
