Josh Higgins loves to make up stories about other planets. At least he thought he was making them up. After Josh publishes his first book, sinister blue aliens visit Earth! Josh quickly learns that the worlds he wrote about in his stories are way too real.
The outer space thugs take Josh and his kid sister, Maggie, all the way to the desert planet Yastol. And when Josh and Maggie refuse to aid the blue guys, a chase begins across Yastol's harsh landscape.
Will the help of the planet's brave Prince Izor be enough to save Yastol from the bad blue aliens? Or will the planet's many dangers finish off Josh and Maggie first?

Great book!
My son said he really liked the book -- and he's not easy to please when it comes to books!
This is an exciting sci fi adventure of Josh, a young writer who suddenly finds himself living in his own book!
Josh Higgins was a bookish nerd and the perfect target for bullies like Bert Claypool and his gang. Josh's head was filled with stories, stories that won him awards at school. Naturally he was a teacher's pet because they all loved guys like him. Not Bert. When Bert went after him at the mall his kid sister stepped up to the plate to rescue him. "Hey, bug off, slug face!" It was totally embarrassing to have Maggie help him out. Worse yet she yelled at him too. "How come you can write about big brave heroes, but can't act like one!" On the way home after Josh and Maggie kept seeing flashes of blue appearing in the woods. It seemed like there were some blue guys stalking them. What the heck was going on?
It didn't look like a very promising day, but once they got home he had some time to think about his next writing project to enter in the yearly contest. Miss Jordan was counting on him to come up with another winner. "Danger on Yastol" was a huge hit and was an award-winner. Things always seem better after a good night's sleep and Josh only had to put up with his kid sister and her acting group. Maggie was going to ream him out after the rehearsal, but all of a sudden the blue guys showed up. To his surprise they "were tall, flat, and fearless." They weren't there to act in any play and meant business when they asked him to take them to Yastol to mine some aafth. One of them claimed that "We need aafth for our weapons. For our spaceships ... enough to give us power to conquer the galaxy." The unimaginable had come true. Josh's book had turned to reality and he and Maggie were going to be in deep trouble ... in Yastol!
This is an exciting sci fi adventure of Josh, a young writer who suddenly finds himself living in his own book. He finds himself having to do some quick thinking when he meets up with his own characters. Some like Prince Izor are nonthreatening, while others like the slave traders are villainous. I enjoyed the wide variety of imaginative critters like the "grey-green riding beasts," but my favorite was Leggy, a polka-dotted "dit-dit." Young readers will enjoy this foray into the unknown world of Yastol. The read is quick, light, fun, and would be perfect for the reluctant reader or one who enjoys quirky sci fi adventures.
