Aired on June 9, 1939, It was based on the 1926 novel Escape by John Galsworthy, best known as the author of The Forsyte Saga.

The story follows Captain Matt Denant, a decorated World War I officer and honorable English gentleman. One day, while walking through Hyde Park, he intervenes when a young prostitute is being harassed by a plainclothes police officer. A scuffle ensues, and Denant unintentionally kills the officer.
