Peter is a co worker of mine with a story that he has not told many people about, he is a refugee who fled Vietnam in the 1980s with his family as a young boy. Peter wanted to bring his story to the world as a form of closure, as well as being able to have something which he can expose to his young children when they are older so they can understand what he went through at such a young age.
We spoke about how it took them three attempts to make it out of the country, how he was tortured after being captured after the second try, and what he remembers about his brutal journey to freedom. It's a heart wrenching story, and regardless of your opinion about refugees, Peter's story will shine a light on how difficult it is for a refugee to seek a new life in a safer country.

After we finished recording, Peter told me about his younger brother named Nguyen Trieu Thien Quang who went missing during one of the trips. He is presumed dead but Peter is hoping that he may still be out there. If you know Quang's whereabouts, please contact me via email or social media below.
