How does God solve the paradox problem of justice and mercy?
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

“I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep.”

“For I tell you that the scripture which says, ‘He shared the fate of criminals,’ must come true about me, because what was written about me is coming true.”

“Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations…”

Substitutionary atonement:
Substitute - a person that takes the place of another
Atonement - reparation for a wrong or injury
This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…

Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection not only cancels a debt we can’t pay, He cures our disease we can’t fix
Salvation: can’t be earned
Salvation: must be received
Salvation: is about purpose
Without Jesus both our debts and disease keeps us stuck
