Part 1: Life on the wharf, and life at sea.

Ethics is something that everyone will have to deal with in their life. Like it or not, you're going to have experiences where your ideas on right and wrong will be challenged. How will you handle them? What will you do? Should you be concerned about them if they don't directly affect you, or if you don't know about them?

In this special three part case study series (episodes 80, 81 and 82), I'm going to take a closer look at an industry that has recently come under media scrutiny in Australia for its treatment of animals. It's the live... animal ... export ...industry. My guest in the series is Dr Lynn Simpson, a highly experienced vet who's completed 57 voyages over 11 years, shipping Australian livestock to the other side of the world for slaughtering and processing. Many questions are raised, and despite plenty of investigation and research, there are still precious few answers on what to do with this highly controversial industry. It's a complex story, and it involves a great deal of suffering. Is it ethical? Most of us will never see it, so...should we worry?
