Etosha National Park

Listen Later

As one of the largest nature reserves in the world, measuring around half the size of Switzerland, Etosha National Park is located in northern Namibia. The name "Etosha" is rooted from the language of the Ovambo and means something like "big white place". It's a very fitting name: the Etosha pan is covered all over with a silvery-white salt-clay crust. The additional year-round sparse vegetation gives the pan its characteristic mystical coloring.
