eTown’s Best of 2016 - PART ONE

eTown is an exciting weekly radio broadcast/podcast heard from coast to coast on NPR, public and commercial stations. Every eTown show is taped in front of a live audience and features performances from many of today’s top musical artists as well as conversations and information about the world around us. eTown’s mission is to educate, entertain and inspire a diverse audience through music and conversation in order to create a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable world.

Nick also has an insightful interview with Steve Weiss, curator of UNC Chapel Hill's Southern Folklife Collection, that offers invaluable insights into the cultural significance of folk music and its enduring impact on society.

Martin Earley and Calin Peters are The Ballroom Thieves and they travel to eTown to share the bill with Canadian songsmith, Ron Sexsmith. Nick also discusses sharks and the environmental impact of pollution on our waters with Dr. Mikki McComb-Kobza, Chief Scientist and Executive Director of the Ocean First Institute.

This week, we're welcoming Hurray For The Riff Raff to eTown Hall! This show features a special acoustic duo version of the group consisting of Alynda Segarra and accompanying guitarist Johnny Wilson. Sharing the stage is Peter One, originally from Africa and now located in Nashville. Nick also has a sit down with members of the Green Grad Buffs who share their ideas about re-purposing a defunct coal-fired power plant in Denver.
