EuFMDiS outbreak simulation model (Dr Graeme Garner and Dr Richard Bradhurst)
Nadia Rumich, EuFMD Communications Officer spoke with Dr Garner and Dr Bradhurst about EuFMDiS, a multi-country Foot-and-mouth disease outbreak simulation model. The EuFMDis model can be used to evaluate various control options to eradicate the disease. It is an adaptation of the Australian Animal Disease Spread Model (AADIS).
Dr Garner is a veterinary epidemiologist who has worked for EuFMD, following his retirement from the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources where he was a Senior Principal Research Scientist and Director of the Department’s Epidemiology and One Health Program.
Dr Bradhurst is a Research Fellow in the Centre of Excellence for Biosecurity Risk Analysis (CEBRA). His specialization is the fusion of multiple modelling approaches for the control of emergency animal, human, plant and environmental disease.
