Films based on comic book properties are nothing new. Hollywood has been making them for decades. As movie making technology progressis, the more fantastic a film based off of a comic can look. In the 70's, we believed a man could fly in Superman. In the 80's we had a dark knight watching out for us in Batman. And in the 90's we had anti-heroes kicking ass and taking names in The Mask, Spawn and Blade. But it wasn't until the turn of the century that a film came along that redefined the way comic book superhero movies would be accepted by fans and critics alike. We live in an age of On Screen Superheroes thanks to The X-Men!
Iron your yellow spandex suit one last time and grab a box of tissues. We're delivering the eulogy for the seventh highest grossing film series in movie history as we look back on the X-Men film franchise.
