On May 21, 2024, the European Council, which includes the heads of state for each of the members of the European Union, unanimously voted to adopt the Artificial Intelligence Act. The AI Act, which the European Parliament approved in March after years of debate, establishes the most comprehensive regulations on artificial intelligence technologies yet adopted. Because any company that wishes to market their product within the European Union must comply with EU regulations, industry analysts expect the legislation to have a global impact. Dragoș Tudorache has represented Romania in the European Parliament since 2019, where he has served on the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Age.
