This week, I talked about how evangelical Christianity has a white supremacy problem and discussed two problematic teachings from the church.

The first was the fact that there are so many worship songs that were slave songs. They are sung in many large, primarily white churches as a form of worship with no context given.

The second problematic teaching was the 10% tithing "rule." Most churches I've attended teach that if you don't tithe, you will suffer financially. They also teach that you should tithe before you pay bills or buy groceries.

I then brought up the fact that most of the rioters at the United States Capitol last week were white evangelical Christians. They erected a cross on the lawn of the Capitol, as well as marched around singing worship songs and carrying Jesus banners.
