How do you define the word evangelicalism? Would you consider yourself an "evangelical Christian?" Has your perception of the word changed since last week's outcome of the presidential election?
The word itself is quite prolific in news stories, national polls, and all manner of political blogs lately. The question is, has the political connotation of the word overshadowed its true meaning? And what happens when the cultural assumption of what an evangelical Christian is runs counter to what committed evangelicals actually believe?
On this episode of The DBC Podcast, Bo sits down with regular co-hosts Jeff Reams (Mission Pastor) and Mark Paul (Student Pastor) to discuss the impact of the word "evangelicalism" and its various forms, the dangers of living according to its connotation, and recognizing where the word actually comes from in order to better appreciate its use. The conversation touches on politics, of course, but only in a sense of how we as Christians live Gospel-centered lives even when we find ourselves advocating for certain issues or choosing a particular political candidate.
